Opening an assignment adds 4 hours to time

Open Enturk opened this issue 4 months ago • 3 comments

I wish this were literally a time-travel trick, but the report from a group of honors students is that the clock at the top right of a textbook assignment tracking how long they've been reading it increases by 4 hours each time they open it after the first. The students that verified this are CISC106 students: Lauren S, Emily R, Aidan H., Elise A., Aaron S. and Aria Kerstetter. Let me know if you want more detail, but I visually confirmed that the clock showed 4 hours and a few minutes on an assignment that they had just opened for a second time.

Tagging @acbart in case more information is needed from the students.

Undoubtedly an issue with a timezone. Either the server start or the local is not being offset.

In case you are worried, this mechanism is completely different than the mechanism used for tracking how long they have on the exam. This was just meant to help instructors gauge how long a student has been working on something. Obviously worth fixing, but not a high priority issue.

Agree - this is a very low-priority issue.
