Zipping is done when downloading multiple files. I don't really see the need to zip files just to leave them on the server

Yep I didn't find anything either about this exact behavior. It definitely has something to do with the widgets, but not one specific. If I enable only one widget everything...

Still broken in Optifine 1.18.2 HD H7 Please fix this finally. Iris+Sodium has no issue with that but the performance is way better with optifine.
