It would be great if this app was on https://flathub.org so that you could install it on other distros

Currently I have no plans to release Transporter in any format except AppCenter until eOS Juno is out.

@bleakgrey Wanna help with this one?

Not sure if this one can be Flatpaked.

Transporter is a GUI for a python script. On eOS I use PIP to download it to the user dir, in a new Juno release I will rewrite it to install a package from repository. When it comes to working in an isolated environment... honestly I'm not sure what I can do here.

You can just mark the wormhole Python package as a dependency. Which can be packaged easily on the flatpak package too.

bilelmoussaoui avatar Jul 31 '18 19:07 bilelmoussaoui

Well then it boils down to convincing the magic-wormhole's developer to publish it as Flatpak too

@bleakgrey Why so? Flatpak doesn't have any dependencies stuff like other packaging systems. You have to build every dependency by yourself and you can use a runtime or a baseApp to avoid duplicating some stuff. Which allow users to build and use an old application on a recent system and vice-versa

Ah, I see. Well then yeah, I could use some help there.

bleakgrey avatar Jul 31 '18 20:07 bleakgrey

Let me know once the wormhole package is not installed by the application itself anymore

Àny progress on this? :D
