es_debug functionality not working

Can you confirm if setting es_debug to true actually enables the debug logging of the ES requests? I see the startup saying it is enabled, but there are no additional logs being generated.

Looking through the git code, I see notations about the notifications of it being on, and some example json configs, but nothing where it actually enables anything?
