  • [x] I have checked for a similar issue and sure it hasn't been reported before. This one looks similar, but mine isn't M1: https://github.com/bitgapp/eqMac/issues/670 This other one is quite similar, but doesn't provide many details: https://github.com/bitgapp/eqMac/issues/654

Describe the bug The app sometimes stops responding when:

  • The OS changes automatically the sound output, for example when I plug my headphones into the jack or I pair with my bluetooth speakers
  • If I change the output device manually through the OS menu
  • If I change the output device through the menu inside eqMac

Steps to Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behaviour (feel free to change the placeholder as you need):

  1. Open eqMac
  2. Plug the headphone into the jack / or pair with new bluetooth output / or change the sound output through the OS menu
  3. If didn't crash, try again a few times, it'll crash in max few tries

Expected behaviour Don't crash :)

Setup information:

  • Audio device used for playback: [eg AirPods or Macbook speaker or Bose QC32]
  • Audio transmission interface: Bluetooth / 3.5mm Jack
  • macOS Version: 12.2.1
  • eqMac Version: 1.4.6
  • eqMac UI Version: 3.2.4

Screenshots or Console.app logs Screen Shot 2022-06-02 at 10 49 11 (I'm sorry I couldn't find it on console.app or I didn't quite understand the instructions on how to get it)

Additional information Really sad about these problems after I've purchase the Pro version, it's been really hard to use the app with this behavior :(

On the referenced bug, #670, there were people without M1's also claiming they have the same thing happen to them. Perhaps we should assume it's the same issue, change the title on that other one, and delete this one to consolidate the info? The report here is superior, so it shouldn't be lost.

I have an Intel i9 and eqMac freezes when I left the computer for a long period of time (can't tell exactly, but should be around 1h or more). Maybe it's not M1 related, but has something to do with changing audio output when going to sleep

So this bug is not only in the bug list at least 3 times (bug # 682, 515 and 670), but it's got to be the most debilitating bug in this program, basically making it unusable. Also, I seen multiple people state that they want to BUY this program and can't or will not due to this bug. Why has there been no response or traction from the developer on this?

Everytime I change the output it crash, and it has to be reset twice to work correctly, sometimes more.

MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012) OS: 10.15.7

MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019) OS:11.6 same issue. eqmac freezes anytime the audio output is changed (headphones connected, disconnected, or selected audio output switched)
