Use a VPN DNS or SimpleDnsCrypt

I use NetSetMan to change my adapter settings with a click, if I run a 'normal' everyday internet connection 127.0.0.1 is my DNS, through SimpleDnsCrypt, but what if I fire up my VPN, do I let it use 'it's DNS' or SimpleDnsCrypt?
