ASA: Dynamic Highlighting on Map Region

Open rajpersram opened this issue 2 years ago • 4 comments

As a Fire Behavior Specialist *I want to a highlighted region to reflect its zone unit status (None, Advisory, Warning) so that there is consistency in the colours and status.

Additional Context

Currently, when clicking on a region on the map, it is highlighted in a thick green border. Given the amount of colours already being used on this section, it would be helpful to match the colours to the status. The thickness can remain the same as it is currently.

Acceptance Criteria

  • [x] When clicking on a region that is not under advisory or warning, the border color of the region is a dark grey (correction: white).
  • [x] When clicking on a region under advisory, the border color is a darker shade of the advisory colour corresponding to the Legend.
  • [x] When clicking on a region under warning, the border color is a darker shade of the warning colour corresponding to the Legend.

Figma mockups illustrating a colour example for a region under Advisory can be found here. Specific RGB colours for the highlights are listed in the yellow sticky underneath (see item 7)

I think the dark grey is not a practical choice for a zone that is in normal status because it blends in too much with the regional borders and roads. I think white is a better choice but let's take a look at it as a team. The colours chosen in the mockup account for colour blindness, as is mandatory for BC Gov accessibility.

Raj to come up with another colour other than white or black for normal.
