Verify Name Examination consent for Continuation In process
- [ ] Connect with Names unit and identify how the consent to continue in is handled for named continuation in.
Moved to new epic.
@OlgaPotiagalova I have discussed with @Oge01 & Name Examiner-Kathryn. Name request Step
- Client requests for Continuation IN name similar to the Home Jurisdiction name
- The Name Examiner will review the Name, whether it is per BC standard or not, and approve conditionally. Staff will draft email for consent to Continuation IN
- The client provides Consent to Continuation IN through email to Staff
- Consent Staff/Registry Staff will review and approve name requests to full depend upon the document.
The same workflow can be used after our new workflow.

After name approval - Email notification need to be changed

SB says: this may be #21589.
@NaveenHebbale please reach out to Business Staff that need a consent letter for continuation in filing. Can the same consent letter be used for this process that the Name Examiner receives before approving a name.
@iamjtodd do you store the consent letter sent to you by a client for NR Approval anywhere in the system, or is it just an email you file away.
Hi Omid,
Names staff do not action the consent letters. They are done by the consent team under Elizabeth and I believe the emails are filed away/archived.
Thanks,

We are not going to request a Consent letter from the foreign jurisdiction during Name Request stage of the Continuation In process. Instead we are going to advise that the Consent is required during Continuation In filing. So the Consent letter is required to be uploaded only once. This decision has been already previously made. Also confirmed with Linda on May 31, 2024
Tickets to be created to address the workflow.
@oanyahuru whether we need to create a Business Process for Name examiner. Since the Name examiner will not use a conditionally approved function
@NaveenHebbale we would need to, if this were a new process or if it had not been captured already. Lets have a chat about this. My ZH handle is @oanyahuru. Oge1 refers to another person
Hi All,
- [ ] The future Name Request / Name Examination process needs to be updated to reflect the removal of the Continuation In consent attachment to the NR.
- [ ] The future Business process needs to be updated to reflect the new designed and approved approach.
@oanyahuru Oge, if you find yourself in a time crunch between Assets and Document Indexing, I could cover the Names portion of this request. @OlgaPotiagalova
I believe a Continuation In NR doesn't prompt the user for a consent attachment, so perhaps the only change is for staff to NOT request a consent attachment as a condition of approving the NR?
Also, consider that there is a "numbered" Continuation In flow that doesn't use a NR anyway.
@NaveenHebbale , there are 2 other tickets that discuss consent in NR. Please review and combine/close duplicates. Thanks.
@janisrogers @jacqueline-williams-549 to review this ticket
It was discussed with the Names team. The option is not going to be removed for now, so no code change is required for MVP release. Name Examiners should be instructed not to use the option for the Continued In NRs
See also #21588
@Mihai-QuickSilverDev There needs to be a process change for the names examiners. They need to be aware that for BC Companies, Unlimited Liability Companies and Community Contribution Companies, they should not place a condition for consent to continue in on a continue in name request. (Other conditions are fine, and conditions for consent to continue in for Societies will keep the existing process). This is a process change only, no design required.
- [ ] @janisrogers BEN companies also need to be included in that list.
- [ ] Also, there is something that we can do:
- [ ] In NameX UI we can remove Continuation from the list of Macros.
- [ ] Continuation In for Societies has another entry and won't be affected.
Also need to include coops. Do they follow the new continuation in process?
#21588 has the following update from Olga: It was discussed with the Names team. The option is not going to be removed for now, so no code change is required for MVP release. Name Examiners should be instructed not to use the option for the Continued In NRs
Has this new Continuation-in process already been implemented? If not when is the planned release?
