Secured Party not displaying in UI but is displaying in outputs

my senior commercial lending paralegal is a very experienced user of the PPR and, when she showed me her screen was not displaying the secured party during the registration process yesterday morning, I also went through the same steps on my machine, under my login, to register a security agreement and ran into the same problem. Yesterday morning the secured party was NOT displaying in the draft, under that column in the PPR table, and while we created the security agreements yesterday, the added security party was NOT populating on the screen in the second “step” in registering a security agreement. There was a green checkmark on the Secured Party button but, again, the secured party was not showing. My paralegal added it several times because she could not understand why it was not showing.

Because we could not get any technical help from the PPR yesterday and because she had two registrations that were holding up the completion of a lending transaction, I told her to go ahead and register anyway, despite not seeing a secured party in her draft. A security agreement will not register without a secured party entered so I thought there was no harm in trying to register. She was able to register and discovered that the secured party was being added, despite not displaying in the screen during drafting or in the two italicized drafts saved in the PPR table. Once she registered the security agreements, yes, the secured party showed up and, very frustratingly, it showed up multiple times. I admit that she added the secured party several times when she was creating the registrations – and I ASSURE YOU that she only did this because the secured party was not showing during the registration process or in the drafts in the PPR table.

I cannot replicate the problem at this time. While I rejoice that this issue has been resolved, I can only reiterate that it was a problem yesterday and I find it hard to believe that it was only a problem at our site. If we fix the registrations by amending them ourselves, deleting the duplications of the secured party, those deletions are going to show on all future searches and it will be confusing and concerning to the lender. It also makes us look incompetent in the PPR registration process.

@mstanton1 tried few scenarios today and no luck reproducing this today, but I have seen a draft from BRTEST1 (TEST env) on Sep 7th registered by Patrick and found that 'Registering Party' and 'Secured Parties' were missing in the draft and also the stepper is checked without them. When tried to add a new secured party, it is not displayed in the table. image.png image.png

Note: Tried to submit the registration and wanted to see the output, but as there is only 1 example now to reproduce and might be helpful for devs to resolve this issue

  • Another example of crown charge registration from previous draft filings in TEST env (BCREG0058) Secured Party is not displayed in the table and on the dashboard, but the stepper is checked.

@cameron-eyds I see you moved this in progress. Is there anything that can be done to investigate given the challenges in reproducing? The ideal is to identify what happened and address the bug. At a minimum though, other tickets in this story add checks in the UI and API so a registration would not be able to go through with duplicated secured parties. If a scenario like this occurred where the user was not seeing an added secured party and adding multiple times they would be halted from proceeding, right? Likely they'd call and it'd give a PROD scenario we could look into.

@mstanton1 Ah, sorry Melissa. I was exploring this bug and it's related tickets. I saw that Otto was working on the UI piece within the sprint. I must have moved this into Progress in error 😩 Apologies! Will move back into the backlog!

@cameron-eyds it was in the sprint backlog and fair game! I'm just trying to drive out whether or not it's likely we can identify the root cause. I believe when we sized this we put a 2 with the thought of timeboxing it. I was curious how it was going and thinking through what it looks like if this didn't get fixed but we fixed the UI/API rule.

Clarified during stand-up. Effort was for attempt at reproducing. @chdivyareddy commented above about challenges with reproducing and the attempts made. This should be handled by the UI and API tickets in https://app.zenhub.com/workspace/o/bcgov/entity/issues/13750 so this is being moved to closed.
