changing HTML5 video to 720p as default

Open kjozwiak opened this issue 12 years ago • 3 comments

Probably a good idea to change the default HTML5 quality to 720p from the current 360p. The flash player uses the maximum allowed quality of 1080p so probably should set the HTML5 to the maximum allowed.

I remember you telling me something a long the lines of not being able to set HD for HTML5 so please ignore and close this if that's the case!

Which environment do you reproduce on? On OSX Firefox - I only have 360p avail On OSX Chrome I have 1080p which it selects by default On OSX Safari I have 720p which it selects by default

I assume you're on Windows right? Firefox?

Yup, using Windows 8.1 x64 with the following browsers:

  • Firefox Nightly - supports both 360p and 720p ("Auto 360p" selected as the default)
  • Chrome - supports 144p, 240p, 360p, 480p, 720p and 1080p ("Auto 480p" is selected by default)
  • IE 11 - supports 144p, 240p, 360p, 480p, 720p and 1080p ("Auto 480p" is selected by default)

Flash works without any problems on all three browsers, 1080p is always selected. I didn't bother checking Safari or Opera, but maybe a good idea?
