Ps 40 - Add more accents referencing the Liber Usualis
It might make more sense to simply add an option to mark the first accent on bisyllabic words, since these can all be calculated programatically.
But that is not always the case, for instance autem is never accented.
In some editions, none of the bisyllabic words is ever marked with an accent, and I've never been sure what rules are in play when some of them are accented but not words such as autem as you mentioned. Do you know what the rules are?
Not off the top of my head I was just going off of what the LU has. I know that modern versions don't, and even some of them don't use æ and ǽ or even ë in Israël and Michaël.
Let me see if I can find a rule about this...
Okay so I haven't been able to find any definitive rule. And even Solemnes isn't consistent within their own publications. So for the LU and LB the only two syllable words that aren't accented (that I have found) is "autem" and "neque".
But on the whole I think having an option to explicitly mark the first vowel of the first syllable would be good enough.
