Sending messages doesn't works

Open Luca1912 opened this issue 6 years ago • 5 comments

Hello, I'have installed WakeOnLAN for managing my Subnetwork. I'have tried to send a message from HostA to HostB, but HostB doesn't recive that message. I read the Documentation but I don't find the problem. Any suggestions on what to do? Do I need to install something on the hostB?

Thanks

You do not need to install anything on HostB. However, you can install WOL on it so that you can run the "listener" function and see if WOL packets are being received. That's usually the first step in troubleshooting.

Is there a firewall running on HostB? WOL uses UDP port 9 by default. When you say "send a message", you mean a wake up message?

There is Windows Defender Firewall (it's installed in both hosts). i've disabled it for computers in the domain, but messagge doesn't arrive.

when i say "send a message", I mean this option image

i also create a rule for the port UDP 9, without a positive result.

Hi, @basildane, Il tries WOL in my network, this function for sending POPUP message is so good, but not work correctly. My case is in the same network on the same switch. Host A has installed WOL, with disabled antivirus and firewall, Host B hasn't antivirus and has disabled the firewall, in this configuration not work the message, only RDP and power option.

For resolve this problem what can I do?
