Encryption Error Dialog

Open jpdonato opened this issue 7 years ago • 4 comments

Hi, after installing WOL version 2.12.2 (using the automated upgrade check, on top of 2.12.0), the following error dialog now pops up after I right click on an online host and click on Properties: "Password encryption error" - "Padding is invalid and cannot be removed". Then if I click OK to dismiss that error dialog, the host's Properties come up as expected. I have no idea how to fix or workaround this apparent bug. I have reproduced it on two WOL desktops thus far, one running Windows 7 (32-bit) and the other running Windows 10 (64-bit). Best regards

Sorry about that. Somehow you have lost the private key (in your registry) that is used to encrypt the passwords. To fix it, simply reenter the password and click OK.

Would that be the password in the Shutdown tab? Otherwise the only password I use is for the remote desktop to the host and that is entered in the rdp session upon each login. Cheers

I think that it is the shutdown tab. It happened to me once, but it was a long time ago. I never found out why. It happened to me after a version upgrade too.

Ok thanks I’ll give it a try! Cheers
