I have also the same problem. Gradle building with sync is working just fine, but I've got these messages in my .xml file:

Class referenced in the layout file, com.github.barteksc.pdfviewer.PDFView, was not found in the project or the libraries Cannot resolve class com.github.barteksc.pdfviewer.PDFView
