AWSPhone not performing correct validation

AppSync is returning an error when a field is of type AWSPhone and has correct payload. Here is the error message returned: "Variable 'phone' has an invalid value. Unable to parse +13451112222 as a valid phone number." The phone number +13451112222 is valid (I put 1112222 here to hide real one), and passes validation on many other phone validation libraries. Is just that the area code 345 is from Cayman Islands.

AppSync should allow this phone number.

I have a similar problem with an Australian mobile phone number starting with: +614839.....

AppSync response: "message": "Can't serialize value (path/to/phoneNumber) : Unable to serialize +614839..... as a valid phone number."
