Sorry, yes it's `defaults write ~/Library/Preferences/io.tailscale.ipn.macsys.plist EncryptState -bool false` 🤦 I edited the original reply too.

The upstream patches have landed! Per our discussion in February, I'll leave the refactor in tailscale code up to @oxtoacart. Happy to help with code reviews, or anything else!

@belak we might be able to land the last banner-related patches for `x/crypto/ssh`: https://github.com/golang/go/issues/68688. The maintainers don't oppose the idea in principle, there's just some discussion on the implementation details....
