How do i get this working in Visual Studio Code?

Hi there I am new to Angular 2 and not familiar with the cli. I want to write an angular front end for my .Net Core application.

I tried opening this tutorial in Visual Studio Code, and I got it to run but it just hangs at 'loading daily deals'.
