Investigation: RomM integration

Open adrianipopescu opened this issue 1 year ago • 3 comments

Any chance at some point in the future you can take a look at making data from vangogh and even maybe theo itself a first class citizen within RomM?

I realize this is a bit out there, but thought I'd ask.

Usecase would be to centralize gaming, both old and drm free, in one place that potentially theo can pull from and run on steam decks or pcs.

I never used RomM personally, and I think that's a ROM management service? If so, here are my thoughts on that:

  • in principle - I'm not opposed to integrate with existing solutions. E.g. RomM or say Heroic or something else.
  • With that said - it's unlikely to be a big priority any time soon. There's just so much I want to do for all projects and time is pretty limited
  • Now finally what I want to say is that I've been thinking about my own ROM management server and making theo integrate with that eventually for a single solution. Not a big priority at the moment either, but certainly something I want to do eventually with all the functionality in vangogh/theo (e.g. local "installs", saves sync, etc).

Yep, I know it's a long term / maybe type of thing, just marked it for investigation to see your take on whether it's a thing worth doing.

(P.S.: tag me if you find a better rom management platform)

Let's keep it active.

Admittedly I have no idea what it would take to integrate with something like RomM, perhaps it's little effort and can be tackled easily.
