Summary
There should be a flag to cap or disable audit logs when taking an instance backup using appsmithctl.
Why should this be worked on?
We are trying to restore a prod backup into a lesser environment and can’t due to the audit log being so huge from prod. 6GB
To perform an upgrade, we needed to restore a backup of our production environment and restore it to a lower environment so that we can verify our apps will run in the new version by performing the changes needed due to the upgrade. We were unsuccessful in doing the restore because we ran out of space. Our Audit logs are 6G and have since ballooned to over 8GB. There should be a way to reduce or eliminate the Audit Logs during the backup process or have a separate backup for the Audit Logs. Our workaround until this feature is implemented is to add a ttl index to remove any Audit Logs that are older than 3 months.
