Markku Riekkinen: There are also other tickets about questionnaires. This ticket does not describe at all what kind of changes are needed. An overview of all important questionnaire changes is needed in order to do anything.
Juha Sorva: I'm sure there are many issues that I can't name right away, but here are some off the top of my head:
- The user is first faced with an intrusive and uninformative popup, from which they can "go to feedback"; there should be no reason for the user to first receive a feedback popup and then go somewhere else; they should be taken to the feedback automatically.
- The popup claims that you can "Go to feedback" even if there is no written feedback to actually go to.
- It's unclear what the difference between "Go to feedback" and "Close" is.
- The written feedback does not stand out sufficiently from the page in which it is embedded. Should brainstorm ideas for doing it better.
- The "leading" message that the user receives should be tailored based on whether they got everything right or not, and whether they had previously submitted something, and whether there is feedback available for incorrect/correct answers. E.g. "You got everything correct, but do read the feedback for a further discussion.", "You got some stuff incorrect, but see the feedback and try again.", "You got some stuff incorrect and are out of tries, but you can do such-and-such instead.", "You got everything correct [and since there is no written feedback for that situation available feel free to move on].", "You got everything correct [and since the only feedback messages that are available for the correct answer are identical to those you already saw for a previously submitted incorrect answer, there is no need to advertise them.]
- Ideally, there would be nice defaults for the above tailored messages which the teacher could override in RST for specific assignments.
Etc.
So like this card says, I think what is needed is a thorough review of what the UX is currently like and a complete redesign.
Markku Riekkinen: OK Juha.
For developers: A+ shows the pop-up modal dialogue in exercise/static/exercise/chapter.js. The pop-up could be removed for quizzes.
The actual content of the feedback comes from the MOOC-grader, and the MOOC-grader Trello board also has other quiz cards. The quiz questions are defined in the course RST material (a-plus-rst-tools). The RST tools board also has some quiz cards.
Juha Sorva: additional comment from student: "olisi hyvä korostaa väärin menneet vastaukset selvemmin. Itsellä on lievä värisokeus, joka ilmenee mm. siten, että punaisen ja mustan sävyjä on erittäin hankala erottaa toisistaan. Siis hieman vaikeaa korjata väärät vastaukset, kun en tiedä mitkä ovat väärin."
