Inconsistency of contributor numbers between the Github API and the front page

From Github API we got 193 contributors. Currently we retrieve 191 contributors, another two contributed today so we haven't fetch them.
An interesting part is before the contributor number shown on the front page is the same as the one we got from API. Now it's different. Need to figure out the place import this difference.
As we discussed in offline meeting , we should figure out why the total contributors returned by current GIthub API is different from the number shown in the repo home page.
Our target: Find out which data we should use to show the total contributor number, and then update it .

Thought to share with you that, we have an open internal issue tracking this report as a bug. I don't have an ETA on when a fix will be made but this is in good hands. Our system is going to mark this ticket as “solved” now that the issue has been created with the engineering team, but that doesn’t mean we’ve forgotten about it!
