I've tested this on USB2000 and USB2000+ spectrometers and it seems to work as expected. I'm not really sure what it would take to get it to work with the STS class (and I also have no way of testing this).

Thanks, nicely done. But as you said, this won't work with the STS. I'll have a look into this soon and then merge it.
