[BUG] disappearing recent conversation after /compact or auto-compact

What's Wrong?

/compact or auto-compact is making latest response and some times parts of a response disappear. This is happening always.

What Should Happen?

latest responses just before compaction should exist for user's (my) context and never disappear. In the attached image, everything after "Problems:" disappeared, leaving me guessing !

3. see parts of the last output missing.

Just came here to report this as well. When you execute /compact, the screen clears and at least the last command is lost. Note that Claude Code made the suggestion to compact, and I blindly lost my detailed plan.

Yes! It is super annoying and makes navigation through recent conversations almost useless. In addition to that, you can’t actually rewind through the model messages, only through the user messages. But even more, only the messages sent when the agent was idle, yeah. So even if you queue your message within the conversation, you aren’t able to rewind to it. So this overall navigation is really broken. Anthropic, please fix that. I beg you.

Yes! I figured that pressing key up I have access to all message I have sent in PowerShell, so I'm sending Claude my last message when there's an important talk in the middle, and Claude talks again in the right conversation, leaving the "todo list" for later...

My case was very severe. When the Compact forced me to hit escape twice and I had to move to a conversation point 3 placed up, the compact process deleted all the documentation files and the json files that were created during a 1.5 hours session.
