[BUG] Bug in prompt text editor on WSL with Cyrillic text

Environment

  • Platform (select one):
    • [v] Anthropic API
    • [ ] AWS Bedrock
    • [ ] Google Vertex AI
    • [ ] Other:
  • Claude CLI version: 1.0.33
  • Operating System: Windows 11 with WSL , Ubuntu 20.04
  • Terminal: GNU bash, version 4.4.23(2)-release (x86_64-pc-msys)

Bug Description

Bug in prompt text editor.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open claude, type "Text in english. Тест текст на кириллице."
  2. Press Ctrl+left/right arrow

Expected Behavior

Cursor is moved from one word to another in both English and Cyrillic text

Actual Behavior

Cursor is moved from one word to another only for English chars. Cyrillic text is skipped

Additional Context

Probably same issue happens for any non-english chars

I think this is a duplicate of https://github.com/anthropics/claude-code/issues/1943 . However that issue is for mac, looks like the problem is not platform specific.

It is still occurring and is hurting so much. From time to time I accidentally erase whole prompt instead of only the last word. Please give this issue some attention.

I contacted them on X, and afterwards they closed my issue #1943.

So I believe they’ve fixed it, and I hope it will be included in the next release.
