space character should not be allowed in OSC addresses

The OSC spec lists the forbidden characters :

http://opensoundcontrol.org/spec-1_0

But the implementations here (for instance the Python one) allows for spaces, which may cause problem with "strict" implementations of OSC. Would it be possible to restrict this in order to get errors as soon as possible in the pipeline ?
