docs: fix 404 urls

I noticed while reading the docs that they were pointing to files that no longer exist. This PR adresses this issue. The .gitignore was also referring to files that no longer exist or that have been moved. I hope my commit messages are complying with your guidelines. Let me know if I need to change something.
