What kind of cable is this? Duo cable, each split in the middle
I've never seen a cable like this and I didn't see it in the cable bible! Whatcha think?
This is what it is attached to, something that plays Pong. It seems to be Turkish and transmits a PAL signal. We also think a feature is that it is supposed to be playable without being plugged into a television, so it might be meant to transmit a very short broadcast signal.
Oh wow interesting! I assume it makes a black-and-white image? In which case, cables for luma/video and sync??
I've never seen anything like that split - is it meant to help lock the connector in place? Would be interesting to see the port that it's meant to plug into...
Also I tweeted out what it looks like plugged into an oscilloscope https://twitter.com/ablwr/status/984616338957234176
yeah my first thought was video on one plug and sync on the other too! that line you're pointing to looks super black, am i reading that wrong?

Maybe? I wasn't involved in testing this (neither hand is mine), I just came across it but had to go back to doing something else. 😫
As teenagers we used often those cables to connect… almost anything, including 220 V power supply (you can easily increase the diameter of the pin, when needed).
Huh - so the split in the plug is to make the pin wider and fit in a larger socket? Is there any kind of name for these connectors, I can't find any information about them! That makes sense that they could be adapted to different kinds of signals.
(in searching, however, I did find this terrific site that should be added to the power cable section links: http://www.plugsocketmuseum.nl/Overview.html )
That site is dooppppeeee!
