a52: frozen pavumeter

Open quequotion opened this issue 4 years ago • 2 comments

I had been thinking that pavumeter was just broken, because this has been happening to me for a long time (well before the changes between 1.2.5 and 1.2.6), but now I realize that I hadn't tested against stereo mode in just as long.

When using the a52 plugin, pavumeter is frozen as soon as it opens: if audio was playing, levels will show at exactly where they were at that moment and never change; if audio was not playing, levels will never appear because the interface is frozen before there were any.

I am curious if this, #37 and #32 are not related.

I've noticed that the levels are frozen in pavucontrol as well, for any stream using the 5.1 output.

I have some remapped, two-channel sinks configured as well. Streams using them show levels (ie, the card is in 5.1 surround mode, but the audio stream is in stereo on specified speakers).

I was poking around in pavucontrol today, and I noticed the monitor for the ac52 plugin sink is in stereo (ie, it only has two channels).

The monitor should have the same number of channels as the sink it monitors.

I happened to find that while attempting to capture audio from the monitor using parec, which came out as hissy garbage anyway.
