Can't set a Login Desktop Wallpaper

1. Open the Secrets preference pane
2. Click "replace wallpaper"
3. Select new wallpaper

just see the blue background and NO wallpaper. Not even the standard

1.0.6 on OS X 10.6

I have the exact same issue, though mine happened rather suddenly without
provocation. I've used this feature for several months now and then all the
sudden last night it went to the blue screen. I can get it to switch back the
default image but nothing else. Any help would be appreciated.
