pianoroll, let's talk

I know that talk is cheap (show me the code), but I was reading sequencer64 and found: todo "I don't like seq24's pianoroll editor, the way you do CC envelopes isn't ideal, it uses alsa-midi, there's unnecessary complexity in switching from pattern-trigger mode to song mode, and its insistence on being transport master while not even being able to adjust tempo when live is annoying." The JACK support may need updating/upgrading as well.

So I tried:

  • rosegarden
  • kepler34
  • lmms
  • qtractor

Imho qtractor offer the most visually attractive pianoroll editor for notes and CC.

Qtractor is nice! I think Kepler34 added similar stuff in it's Qt port. Will keep it in mind; I really appreciate your suggestions!

The ALSA MIDI, Song-to-Live mode, and JACK support issues are pretty well put to bed, but the other stiff still needs looking into. The tempo changes are tough, since I think they need extra calculation to deal with them. But I am having a nice Dogfish Head 90-minute IPA, and my thought processes are not too deep at this time. :-)
