Set new Max Date via JS; Selection higher than max date possible

Hello, I have a input with type date with max attribute set to a date A. If I now set a new max date B lower than the old date A to the date input I can now select a date higher than the new date B. But If I select a higher date as the new date B an error is displayed correctly. Here is a jsfiddle: https://jsfiddle.net/2L86bue9/ My expectation is that if I set a new max date B, I can only select until that date B and not until date A. Provided date B is earlier than date A. Is this my code or is this a general error?
