No way to abort forced update
Steps to reproduce the behavior:
- Start WowUP 2.7.x
- Popup "Update available" appears
- No way to abort, no way to avoid
- End up in not working WowUp 2.8.1
Forcing updates on the user is a bad practice. Not only if the update is dysfunctional (which can happen to the best), but in general.

Hi, I'm a mod for WowUp. We had to force the updates due to people still using versions of WowUp that were 2.0, 2.1 or 1.x and were breaking addons when being updated and installed. It was creating issues for addon authors as their users were coming to. them blaming them when unfortunately it was the users with older versions of WowUp that hadn't updated either because they didn't want to or didn't realize. It may not be what. you wanted and we may try to revisit this and change it a bit, but not updating software ever can lead to more issues and frustration. If you have a better idea on how to implement something without it creating more problems we are open to listening and the help. You are welcome to come to our discord to discuss it with us there as well.
Maybe adding a very small "Skip" option where you see a big green button with "You really need to update, otherwise things won't work" and a red button with this text: "I'm a dev, I'm testing, I know what I'm doing and I'm bearing the consequences". Use black patterns :-) I wanted to check whether the bugs I saw with 2.8.1 where present before (and with which version the problem started) but I'm unable to do so.

That's possible, but would have to find a way to differentiate a dev from a regular user that just doesn't want to update or wants to keep putting it off. It's something to try to figure out though.
Use a command line option then to bypass the update check (not sure how that works with electron though). Without that I cannot check for regressions.
Forcing the user to update is basically a requirement at this point due to small team size for support, however, i am not opposed to some kind of snooze button behavior up to a point. I am not sure what you're trying to do with the app though that you're checking for regressions.
Right now I'm have this problem with the update as well as trying to uninstall the current copy. Stuck on this message:
Because of this I can't use the program at all as well as upload or uninstall.

@FortisVoluntas and @jmjamison, Hi, I'm a mod for WowUp. It is a known issue that error message. Unfortunately we have not found what is causing it to get it fixed. The workaround for now is to use the portable version of WowUp and make sure it is on your desktop for easy access. You will want this version in the screenshot and you should be able to access WowUp again. If you run into problems, you can hop into our discord for further troubleshooting. Just make sure after you download it to move it to your desktop as it won't do the normal install process.
