Fully transparent widget background?

As you can see in the attached image, the widget doesn't have a background. It is completely transparent.

I'm unsure if this is intended, as the graphic shows a background before adding the widget.

I'm using LineageOS 23 (Android 16) on a Pixel 9. The launcher is Trebuchet, the default launcher on LineageOS. But I tested the widget in µLauncher, and it appeared to have the same issue, so I don't think it's a launcher issue.
