Hole Etching white line

Open TsuLab2023 opened this issue 2 years ago • 3 comments

When I simulate hole etching, there are some white line in paraview image (Material Ids). I understand red is Si, blue is SiO2. However, white is not mentioned in your code, so tell me what mean white line, please.

The reason you see these white parts on the mesh in Paraview is that the material IDs are only defined as point data on the mesh. This means that all points in the mesh are assigned a material ID, but the elements (triangles in 3D or lines in 2D) are not initially assigned a material ID.

When viewing the mesh in Paraview, the elements (triangles or line) obtain the data from the nearest point. For example, a line which is connected to two points with the same material ID obtains exactly the same material ID as the points. However, if the line is connected to two points with different material IDs, e.g. 0 and 1, Paraview interpolates the point data along the element and you will get at some point a material ID of 0.5 which appears white in Paraview.

Thanks. I understand what you mean by white lines. In hole etching, why, depending on the conditions, is the hole's mask border jagged instead of straight?

I'm not quite sure, I understand what you mean. It's possible that the Marching Cubes algorithm's mesh creation might not produce a perfectly defined line on the mask border due to limited spatial resolution. Have you observed variations in borders under different process conditions?
