[HL1] Add an option to activate r_shadows via the video settings

This is a feature request.

Add an option in the console to enable rudimentary shadows in the original Half-Life, that simply activates r_shadows and also can be disabled.

Attach your hw.dll and I can patch it for you.

What's that? The original suggestion is to just add an option where you can activate it (like texture filtering).

Valve deactivated r_shadows a long time ago (long before Steam) but the code still exists and can be activated in hw.dll. If you go to your half-life folder it's right next hl.exe, zip and upload that here.

Right click > send to compressed folder, you can attatch zip files under your post.

HL25 restores r_shadows iirc.

In the anniversary update, r_shadows were added back. Basically I'm suggesting an option in graphics settings to activate it instead of doing it in the console. (and also to benefit everyone)

Ok yeah I see what you mean, did they fix the shimmer? r_shadows only works well in 16-bit color mode from memory, otherwise they can look pretty bad.

@ZOVBOT, just play the game and activate r_shadows on console
