the game crashes every match i play
i play cs2 on archlinux with hyperland and it crashes every 5 minutes , some times it crashes the whole desktop freeze,
i have core i7 12700f cpu and rx6600 gpu, the performance is good but the game is unplayable i tried to run the game both with wayland and x11 and still have the same issue
it have been more than 2 years and the linux version off the game still a bit of useless trash, i remember being able to play nearly 2 months in peace after the cs2 realease , every new update you break the game even further :(
i prefer the unsupported flag over this shit, or when you consider just using proton, why you try hard to bring shit and thousands of new issues just allow proton and let us have a good experience you already provide, my rank in the game just gets worse and worse its incompetitive and i'm do not have confidence that you can fix it anymore
While the rage filled comment is a bit over-the-top, I can agree that the current situation is frustrating. I'm having the same issue, both under X11 (xfce) and wayland (sway).
FWIW, it doesn't seem to be a heat related issue. sensors doesn't show anything surpassing 55°C (131°F).
System specs: CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 1700 GPU: Intel Arc A750 RAM: 32GB OS: Debian Forky/Sid Kernel: Debian 6.16.1-1~exp1 Mesa version: Mesa 25.3.0-devel (git-e24db36f20)

man i have to create a single-gpu-passthrough setup in order to play cs2 its the only game i ever play and being unable to play it in the system i'm used to and love even though its "supported" is a pain in the ass i have been witting update after update for the game to be fixed so i can "pacman -Runs qemu virt-manager cockpit" but the game only gets worse and i'm doing shit trying to play it i'm literally dualbooting in the wrongest way possible
not a linux only issue, cs2 crashes for me too every single match after the last update.. i shoot someone in the head, game just crashes and i couldn't find any error in the cs2 minidump files or event viewer on windows 10.

yes i switched to windows and now after 2 days of normal gameplay the same issue happens on windows also idk wtf is going on
Experiencing the same issue, but wouldn't call it "useless trash" 😄
Specs
AMD 9800x3d AMD 7900xtx 32gb DDR5 ram CachyOS - latest kernel ( 6.16.3-2 ) and LTS kernel (6.12.43-3.1) <- both crash KDE Wayland Mesa 25.2.1-cachyos1.3
What I've tried so far
Switching to LTS kernel - exact same issue is present
Right clicking CS2 -> Compatibility -> Forcing the use of Steam Linux Runtime 3.0 (sniper) - This solved CS2 hard-freezing my entire system. Now when it freezes it does so for a short while before crashing, but I no longer have to force-restart my computer to continue. Issue still remains with crashing the game. (@firashacker try this and see if it at least prevents your whole system from locking up)
Deleting entire contents of ~.steam/steam/steamapps/shadercache/730/ - no change
Launch options
game-performance (cachyOS' gamemode) - does not change anything RADV_DEBUG=llvm - does not change anything RADV_DEBUG=nogpl - does not change anything
If I run steam through terminal, I see this when it crashes (duplicates omitted):
(process:5550): Pango-CRITICAL **: 11:32:24.074: pango_layout_line_get_x_ranges: assertion 'start_index <= end_index' failed
Fontconfig warning: FcPattern object weight does not accept value "Regular"
radv/amdgpu: The CS has been cancelled because the context is lost. This context is innocent.
IPC function call IClientMatchmaking::GetLobbyOwner took too long: 47 msec
X connection to :0 broken (explicit kill or server shutdown).
src/steamnetworkingsockets/clientlib/steamnetworkingsockets_lowlevel.cpp (4108) : Trying to close low level socket support, but we still have sockets open!
If I in cs2.sh uncomment this:
# Do the following for strace:
# GAME_DEBUGGER="strace -f -o strace.log"
it won't launch
Sometimes the game will freeze for a while and won't crash, but this happens kind of rarely. Interesting to note is that if Discord is open when I play, it always crashes along CS2, but this happens when only CS2 is open on the system as well.

I'm having this exact issue as well. Here is a crash dump. It won't let me upload the crash dump, but I have system logs, console output and a crash dump for an event. Please contact me and I can privately send them. Something is going on here. I'm on openSuSE. This started a few weeks ago, only in comp, and only once per round. Now I can't even finish a casual game most of the time.
+1 encountering the same issue, usually only once per match, though also happened twice in a match yesterday.
