[BUG] Numerous problems unstable after 5 years (logs and explanation attached)
Describe the bug After five years, the quality of SteamVR on Linux is terrible.
There were a few years, perhaps before version 2 of SteamVR, when you could more or less play HLA. After that, it became very difficult to pinpoint a bug because there were so many problems and error dialogs that obscured the initial bug reported.
I have attempted to report everything about my system in the hope that at least the regression problem that occurred in SteamVR will be found.
I have a version of Steam for SteamVR and Alyx (i.e., from a dpkg, as in theory I got improvements over other errors).
I have restarted the computer several times in the hope of having a stable environment that would not affect the hardware or SteamVR.
Sometimes SteamVR does not respond. Other times it says that another instance was running, but it was impossible to close it (perhaps with killall -9). If I tried to completely restart Steam, that Source2 error would reappear in a loop.
As I said, it's impossible to explain what's really happening in terms of a bug, as there are a whole series of problems that make it difficult to even run HLA.
I hope that at least these logs and screenshots can help the team bring a minimum of stability before HLX arrives.
Best regards.

**_EDIT: I hope to at least get some feedback from the SteamVR-Team to find out what's happening with SteamVR on Linux, and what the next patches for Linux will be. I only see improvements, but none of them are relevant to Linux. ~Until there is transparency, I will not collaborate with the reports again. After 5 years..~ λ³ **

I don't think we can expect anyone from Valve to look at these tickets. There are so many duplicate issue that have been around for many years without any response or resolve.
Recently I wanted to pick up SteamVR again after not playing for about two years. There are definitely much more stability issues. Bugs in the included scripts. Sound is often not working. Etc. etc. Years ago it seemed like this was a viable platform and worthwhile investment. Right now I can't even continue playing HL:Alyx because the game won't start or the sound won't connect to my Index.
