[BUG] Regression: Startup crashes and performance issues introduced in `2.12.3`
I'm generally running the Beta channel (Linux, Async reprojection forced off). As of Beta update 2.12.3 I noticed really bad bad performance; specifically very bad ghost images lagging behind, either when I move my head myself or when objects pass by. This issue was not present in 2.12.2 and earlier.
On top of that I noticed that the same version also shows problems of starting sometimes (maybe every second or third time). It would try to start VrMonitor and two other VR processes, then die within ~2-4 seconds and do that in a loop forever, never actually managing to boot up. In that case I have to kill all the processes and start it again. This usually tends to also kill the Steam process itself (although it does restart automatically).
I'm running PopOS latest stable (22.04) with NVIDIA 565.77 driver on X11.
For the moment I opted into the previous "beta" of SteamVR, although I'm afraid this will only work until 2.13 is released, at which point previous will point to the broken 2.12 version.
I have tried using the previous (2.11.2) branch on both X11 and Wayland, trying both enableLinuxVulkanAsync set to false and true. This version is no different from the latest beta, though I am on the 575 driver on Fedora 42.
