Headset not detected at all
Describe the bug So I'm very new to Linux (just made the switch 4 days ago, and I like it and don't want to go back to windows) I have the Valve Index, Read it was plug and play on Pop Os, does not seem to be. It's possibly my usb ports but I've tried all of them (they are all usb 3.2 and always worked before) The drivers didn't seem to install, (the only one that appears is Valve Software 3D Camera), only my primary monitor appears in xrandr (with no values under any disconnected devices), and under xrandr --verbose | grep desktop there's not a single non-desktop: 1. I've looked around at every single other support I could find with even slight relevance and nothing has worked, at one point steam vr wouldn't even launch and I had to add the command line steam-runtime-launch-options -- %command% and set SDL Video driver to X11. Really at a loss here and would appreciate any help that could be provided will continue to search around myself but don't really feel like I'll find anything more than I already have (I've spent 3 days on this)
To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:
- Launch SteamVR
- Get Please plug in headset
- Fail to profit
Expected behavior That it would detect the headset, install the drivers and plug and play D;

I can confirm, this seems to be related in part to #636, if you scroll through there.
Did you find a workaround to this @Pratfo?
I am having the exact same issue with a very similar setup.
Things I have tried:
- Deleting steamvr.vrsettings
- Adding the udev rules
- Unplugging the Index (also I was able to run VR on Windows just 5 days ago so I don't think the cable is faulty)
- Switching from the normal branch to the 2.6.2 beta
- Switching the Steam client to the stable branch from the families beta branch
- Rebooting after doing each step
