Open jon-bit opened this issue 3 years ago • 2 comments

Describe the bug I can launch steamvr, The client sees the headset, controllers and lighthouses. but it gives the error 307 and problem reporting says "vrcompositor quit unexpectedly - The application encountered a problem and could not continue."

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior: just try steamvr on fedora 36

Expected behavior I can start the room setup and play what I want (granted it works in proton)

System Information (please complete the following information):

  • Distribution: fedora 36
  • SteamVR version: 8855498
  • Steam client version: 5565291
  • Opted into Steam client beta?: Yes
  • Graphics driver version: 515.57 {don't know howto safly fix that}
  • Gist for SteamVR System Information: https://gist.github.com/jon-bit/52e3dc7e2860f59e01c5c63e472a0b71

Additional context it seems the base stations need a sec to come up. I know I dont have the sugested drivers but I could not find out how to change them.

NOTE: As of writing this I can get it to start with the NVIDIA 470 divers but it is very laggey in the room set up and can't finish it.

This fixed it for me on F36:

chmod -R +x ~/'.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/SteamVR'/*

I have it working on Fedora 37 (Vive pro with AMD gpu, but on x11).

The main issue is AFAIK that Fedora uses Wayland and Gnome by default and DRM leasing does not work with that combination yet. So you either have to log out of Gnome a start a session with X11 or switch to some other WM like KDE that already has support for DRM leasing on Wayland. Apparently the Gnome people are working on it though, so probably only a temporary issue.

I'm having this issue as well, Fedora 37 KDE Wayland, R7 5800x + 6700XT. Segfault in libc2.17.so. Shows as error 307 in the VR window.
