Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

Describe what you expected should happen and what did happen.

When connecting Lenovo Thinkpad Gen 2 dock, no display output can be seen. This dock uses Alt Mode and works just fine with my Arch Linux install on my laptop with similar Zen 2 Renoir processor and AMD graphics. However display output doesn't seem to work with SteamOS/Steam Deck.

Display output has worked fine for about two years on my laptop.

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Connect dock
  2. Try using desktop mode or normal mode
  3. Wait for display - nothing happens

I found that unplugging and replugging with this dock can sometimes get the display to work, however this often also causes total system crashes in Game Mode, losing game progress.

Seems to be an issue with the amdgpu driver looking at the journalctl logs. I see amdgpu driver failing to initialize display on the dock. However instead of it never working, it now works sometimes after a kernel update. Unsure what change triggered it though.
