Missing Valve intro + Entire system crash when game started

Open DavidRLTG opened this issue 1 year ago • 2 comments

Whenever I start the game, The Valve intro is missing ever since the 64-Bit Vulkan update. I am running the game as Vulkan, on Linux. I am on Linux Mint. The game also has a 50% chance of crashing my entire computer when launched. The game completely freezes, and so does my system. CTRL+Q does nothing. Alt+F4 does nothing. Trying to open something else doesnt work. I can only CTRL+ALT+F4 and type shutdown now, start pc again, and launch the game again.

This, is extremely infuriating. Any ideas?

I already know that -windowed -noborder fixes it, but please, this issue and that fix have been here for months now I think. Can we have an actual fix?

I don't want to always have to open the game and switch to fullscreen, it's very annoying

And this doesn't work well on XFCE, the bottom panel will appear no matter what. And I'm not enabling autohide just for TF2.

Found out that the current version of Vulkan changes the refresh rate on certain systems that results in a crash. Using the -freq parameter along with your refresh rate fixes this (example: "-freq 60"), without the need of using -windowed.

Try launch parameter: -freq NUMBER Where NUMBER is the number of weights of your monitor
