Distro: Ubuntu 18.04.1 GPU: Intel Iris Pro 580 Resolution: 1280x720 RAM: 32GB Controller: DS4 Proton 3.7-4 Beta
Not work fine for me the game is laggy slow fps. but run great
Distro: Manjaro XFCE 17.1.12 GPU: GTX 1060, Nvidia proprietary driver 396.54 Resolution: 1920x1080 RAM: 8GB Proton 3.7-4 Beta
Xbox Controller work !
I forgot to test alttab; switching to other programs will continue to only show the game. Sliding other programs to another desktop screen helps workaround this issue.
Achievements popup is slightly offscreen.
Hi,
This game wont go full scree, and sometime the image stops (I think it is when big lightning changes occur, like extinghs a torch).
Besides that seems to work ok in the first minutes. XB360 controller also works

Relatórios de falha recentes:
The frame rate in open areas with a 1080ti is pretty bad. Fullscreen is the same as borderless window, so the desktop bar will not hide. It looks like it has some problems with smoke effects, noticeable in the dead screen.
@minisori can you add your steam's system info to a gist and add it here.
Sure. https://gist.github.com/minisori/217be39a24ae8a58e7d70a022df8c481
Just as you start the game you can notice the frame drop around 20-30fps looking at the big area, anything else is well above 70-80fps. The resolution was 3440x1440.
seems the game works a lot better now. even the part where you get frame drops in the beginning is working now. but i have to admit i haven't played more then 15 min last time when i've noticed the improvements
Indeed it does work a lot better now.
Styx: Shards of Darkness breaks when using HDMI for sound

I confirm:
- [X] that I haven't found an existing compatibility report for this game.
- [X] that I have checked whether there are updates for my system available.
Symptoms
When launching Styx: Shards of Darkness using the PC's HDMI-out for sound, the game runs without any sound, the Unreal video plays overlaid by a pink screen and then everything just stops. Need to Alt-Tab out of the game and press Steam's "Stop" button. Issue does not occur when using another sound device, e.g. USB headphones.
Reproduction
- Set up a PC and home theatre system by running an HDMI cable from the graphics card to the AVR
- Install Steam and Styx: Shards of Darkness on Linux Mint 20.2
- Open Linux Mint's sound settings
- Select HDMI device and set it to any profile (stereo, 5.1...)
- Launch game from within Steam
Notes
- Video showing the issue here: https://youtu.be/WWkS3NvdbJU
- No other bug reports found here that would be relevant to this problem.
- When running the game with another sound device and then switching to HDMI while the game is running, you can get stereo sound, but no surround.
- fwiw, this issue does not occur on Windows 10.

Oh, I have some additional info!
My screen setup:
- **Screen 1: ** PC => DisplayPort cable > Screen (2560x1440)
- **Screen 2: ** PC => DVI cable > Screen (1280x1024)
- **Screen 3: ** PC => HDMI cable > AVR > HDMI cable > Screen (1920x1080)
The game runs on screen 1.
These don't fix the problem:
- Enabling/disabling "Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game" and "Use Desktop Game Theatre while SteamVR is active"
- Running the game with or without "gamemoderun %command%"
- Using GE-Proton7-18, Proton Experimental, Proton 7.0-2 or Proton 6.3-8
- Verifying all local files (they were all ok)
Issue persists on Linux Mint 21, latest Proton Experimental, Nvidia drivers 515.65.01. Same PC as in my report above (thanks for transferring here, kisiak-valve!).
Tagging @ColdPie1, who was able to solve surround sound issues back in 2020 and mentioned over in the "Surround sound support?" thread he might be able to help. Are you still around?
This issue also happens to Layers of Fear 2. Since I have that game on GOG and I'm running it from Lutris, I reported the bug over there: https://github.com/lutris/lutris/issues/4426

I am overjoyed to report this issue is fixed using the latest Proton Experimental on Linux Mint 21.1. The game works flawlessly in 5.1 surround.
(It does struggle when choosing the 7.1 output profile in Linux Mint's sound settings, with almost no sound coming from the rear speakers. However, this is about expected, seeing the game officially only supports 5.1 sound.)
