Compatibility Report

  • Name of the game with compatibility issues: IXION
  • Steam AppID of the game: 1113120

System Information

  • GPU: AMD AMD Radeon Graphics (renoir)
  • Driver/LLVM version: LLVM 14.0.6, DRM 3.48
  • Kernel version: 6.0.11-arch1
  • Link to full system information report as Gist: https://gist.github.com/Samsagax/79e7244d7c794101e019420b14ec5933
  • Proton version: 7.0-5

I confirm:

  • [x] that I haven't found an existing compatibility report for this game.
  • [x] that I have checked whether there are updates for my system available.

Symptoms

The game works fine. Proton 7.0-5 can't play videos. Using Proton GE 7-42 the cinematics work but with very low performance and stutter.

Reproduction

  • Install IXION
  • Run the game. In the menu launch New Game
  • A signal test screen will appear where a cinematic should be.

Just tested Proton Next (7.0-6) and cinematics play albeit very choppy, but that might be just my iGPU, happens with GE proton also

You're not alone: https://www.protondb.com/app/1113120

For me they are not only choppy, but audio/video also quickly desyncs, with audio having progressed already much further than the video, which makes the cutscenes unwatchable for me.

Did you find a solution for that? I know I once did something that allowed the cutscenes to play normally, but some weeks / months later I am unable to figure out what it was.

Also having the choppy video with proton-GE. Anyone ever found a workaround?
