Opening large files renders the frontend unresponsive

When opening a large file in VES, the frontend locks up a few seconds after the file was loaded in the editor. This was tested with an 18 MB asm file, produced when building Formula V in beta mode with the "dump ELF" preference checked.

This problem is not present in Theia IDE, so it must be related to some customization in VES.
