Config Docs Range and Core Type Clarifications

In PR #374 there was discussion surrounding what constitutes a minimum core config and how this should be communicated to the user. One solution posed was to provide a matrix in the docs highlighting what options are relevant for each of the core archetypes. This should be implemented.

Another key issue is that ranges and valid values for each option are not given anywhere (other than if a user gets them wrong at runtime). The docs should be updated to include the valid ranges and sets for each config option.
