[BUG] Occasionally hotkeys take several clicks to work

Describe the bug Occasionally it will take several attempts for a hotkey to work. Noticed this will happen with the "a" and "d" hotkeys for navigating forward and backwards through a set of images.

To Reproduce

• Load images
• Start labeling
• Hit one of the "a" or "d" hotkeys
• It is sometimes laggy or will take several attempts to work

Expected behavior Hotkeys work as expected on the first attempt.
