I also got these errors when I pulled down the project via Plastic.
I used the gitsync version and it gets my every changeset from a git repo and keeps me up to date on my repos. Not sure why i'd get the same errors when pulling it from that as I do when pulling from a zip. Gitsync via plastic probably won't work unless it has largefiles support. Can you try with either GitHub desktop or SourceTree?
