Convective temperature calculation
Capturing this question and suggestion from #1729
@koeleboe
Hello,
This is my first question here, so sorry if this is not the right way! I have a working SkewT using MetPy, but I was wondering if it is possible to calculate the convective temperature (instead of doing it by hand). So, I'm looking for a way to automate the calculation of the convective temperature or even a visual representation on the SkewT. Is this possible or not in the current version of MetPy? (Didn't find any info on this).
Looking forward to your answer!
Guess we should look into convective condensation level (CCL) while we're at it.
Even I was looking at a way to get CCL using metpy. Is it available?
It's not yet available, but we'll certainly consider community demand for it when we prioritize our development for future releases.
Alternatively, if you were to submit a Pull Request implementing it, we'd be happy to take a look and get it merged in for everyone to use!
Hi again @dopplershift, if this issue isn't assigned to anyone else yet, I'm happy to try this out as my second, more met-related, contribution to MetPy. My first and only idea to tackle this issue is to refer to the Tephigram Mastery course for finding CCL and calculating Tc.
Do let me know if you have other ideas for this issue!
Give it a shot! I may actually go to my physical office for a change next Wednesday and I could take a peek at what my textbooks have. The entry from the AMS Glossary may also help as a starting point.
I can't find anything related to CCL and Tc. Could someone develop of them for MetPy? Thanks in advance
