Kaspersky

Open StaggerLeee opened this issue 8 years ago • 10 comments

It wont allow passing server part install. Not even when AV is paused, and exe is added to exceptions. As you may know, it is impossible to disable Kaspersky services without uninstalling whole Kaspersky, Something nobody will do because of Ulterius.

Please fix it. Other remote desktop Apps install servers (Windows services) too, but Kaspersky never makes problems. I tested at least 20 of them.

Second also huge problem is, it is meant to be send to PC beginners to be able to help them fix problems on their PCs. In no way one can expect to explain to them how and what components to disable in Antivirus software to be able to install Ulterius.

It sounds like maybe this little program is in fact a trojan... capture

https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2017/01/antivirus-is-bad/

A few things. The source is available, build it yourself if you're skeptical. Your anti-virus sucks. Kaspersky also says its clean, so it seems like whatever huertics engine Kaspersky uses is conflicted.

Submit a false positive report to your AV provider or stop using it all together because its useless.

It is strange reply.

  • Not some less known AV software, at all.
  • All other remote desktop Apps install without problem.
  • I know there is no virus. Cannot speak for others, they can believe what they want.

Ulterius does more than standard remote desktop apps, others also likely submitted their signatures with AV providers for a whitelist. So it could be a combination that Ulterius interacts with hardware, scans files or something else heuristics engines pickup or simply we aren't whitelisted.

Sorry Codeusa. You changed something, or they behind Kaspersky did it. Can report now I installed it without previous problems. All is well.

You can close issue, if it is OK for other User here.

My friend just tried latest version and have same problem with Kaspersky, default settings.

It is absolutely nothing I can send to beginners when I repair their PCs. What to do now.

StaggerLeee avatar May 09 '17 21:05 StaggerLeee

I had Kaspersky manually review the app and the code. They did not change their stance.

Sorry not sorry, but I'll still be skeptical of Ulterius until a public report by the developers outs the reason behind this issue in detail.

Would you like to post a link to said review? I'm not investing anymore time in this issue because an unreliable heuristics engine thinks some line of code in the binary is a virus. Our releases are digitally signed and we allow people to build the source themselves. If you locate this mysterious virus I'll of course take action.

EDIT: Even Kaspersky says it is safe when scanning using their virus desk https://virusdesk.kaspersky.com

Thanks

Kaspersky thinks the installer package is okay, but when you actually install the program and it takes a look at the Ulterius executables installed by the installer - that's when Kaspersky puts up the red flags. I'll need to look through my emails with customer support with Kaspersky for the review info

I am having the same issue. Do you have a command line argument on the installer that will do an extract only? It is something inside the installer package that it does not like. It may have something do with CodyWeaver...I have seen similar issues on other projects.
